Indispensapp
Termini di servizio
18. Modifiche ai Termini e all'Informativa

Indispensapp
Terms of service
1. Who we are and the service
Indispensapp is an app to manage the food in your home: pantries, expiry dates, shopping list, reading product barcodes and receipts, recipes and consumption statistics, on your own or together with other people. It is developed and run by Francesco Russo, a private individual ("we" in these Terms). The app is free to use; some extra features are paid (section 10).
2. Minimum age
You must be at least 18 years old to use Indispensapp.
3. Account
You sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for what you do with your account and for the lists you create or join. You can delete your account at any time from Settings (see the Privacy policy).
4. Shared lists
A list can have several members. Anyone who knows a list's code can join it and, once inside, see and edit all of its content; members also see the name and email of the other members. Only share the code with people you trust. The list owner can remove members (the code then changes) and delete the list for everyone. If the owner leaves or deletes their account, the list passes to the longest-standing member.
5. Works offline too
Changes are saved on your phone first and sent to our servers as soon as you are online. Some features need a connection (signing in, joining a list, regenerating the code, deleting the account, reading the data of a product not yet saved on your phone, searching for or receiving new recipes, reading a receipt). If two people change the same item while offline, the last change sent wins.
6. Expiry dates, notifications and storage
You enter the expiry dates yourself and reminders are only a reminder: they may be late or missing (for example if your phone blocks notifications or if you don't open the app for more than 7 days). Always check the food and its label before eating it. When you move an item to the freezer or add a cooked dish, the app suggests a new expiry date and shows some warnings: they are general guidance, not a guarantee that the food is safe. Always check how it has been stored, how it looks and its label. If in doubt, don't eat it.
7. Scanner and product data
When you scan a barcode, the product data (name, ingredients, allergens, nutrition facts, photo and indicators such as Nutri-Score and NOVA) comes from Open Food Facts, a free, collaborative database written by volunteers and manufacturers: it may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and we do not check it. The indicators are public information calculated by Open Food Facts, not our judgement of the product, nor medical advice or a health claim. Before eating a food, especially if you have allergies or intolerances, always check the label on the package. The names Nutri-Score and NOVA and the product brands and photos belong to their respective owners; we are not affiliated with them or with Open Food Facts. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) and the photos under a Creative Commons BY-SA licence. If a product's name is not in your language we may translate it automatically: we mark it "Automatically translated" and you can always edit it before saving.
8. Recipes
The recipes we suggest come from a shared catalogue; when the catalogue is not enough, a new recipe is written automatically by an artificial intelligence system and from then on it is part of the catalogue for everyone. Automatically generated recipes are marked in the app and are not checked by a person: they may contain mistakes in quantities, times, steps or ingredients. We calculate allergens ourselves from the ingredients, not the artificial intelligence, but they may be incomplete: if you see "Allergens not verified" or if you have allergies or intolerances, always check the ingredients and the labels of the products you use. Some traditional recipes contain eggs that are not fully cooked, raw fish or raw meat: we flag them with a warning and they are not recommended during pregnancy or for young children, the elderly and vulnerable people. We do not suggest recipes with raw or undercooked poultry. Always follow the usual hygiene and cooking rules. Recipe photos are for illustration only: they come from the Pixabay and Unsplash image libraries, under their licences (Pixabay Content License and Unsplash License) and with the author's name, and the dish you make may look different. You can report a wrong photo.
9. Receipts and prices
You can take a photo of a shopping receipt to add the products to your pantries. We only read shopping receipts: not restaurant or bar bills, nor pharmacy receipts, which may contain health data. The receipt is read automatically by an artificial intelligence system, which may get names, quantities, prices, departments or the shop name wrong: check the products before adding them and correct them if needed. Readings are limited to a number per person per week (the week starts on Monday, Italian time), shown in the app; failed readings and photos that are not a shopping receipt do not count. Product prices and the shop are saved with the list and all its members can see them. With the recorded prices the app shows the last price paid, the price history, spending by shop, comparisons between shops and food waste in euros: these are calculations based on the data entered, sometimes estimated (we tell you when), not official shop prices.
10. Subscriptions and free trial
Premium and Premium+ are monthly or yearly subscriptions sold by Google Play and the App Store: the price, currency and offers are those shown in the store before you confirm. The welcome offer (a 7-day free trial on the monthly plan or a discounted first year on the yearly plan) is available once, under the store's rules; at the end of the trial or first year, unless you cancel, the subscription renews at the full price.
The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before renewal from the store's subscriptions page. Deleting the app or your account does not stop billing: you must cancel in the store. Payments and refunds are handled by the store under its own rules.
When the subscription ends you return to the Free plan and your data stays.
11. Usage limits
The limits of each plan are listed on the Premium page and reset every Monday at 00:00, Italian time. "No limits" means no weekly limits: to protect the service, abuse checks still apply, the same on every plan, currently at most 40 generated recipes and 20 receipts in the last 24 hours.
12. Coins
Coins are earned by watching rewarded videos on the Free plan, up to 5 a day and up to 40 coins held. They cannot be bought, have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or refunded, and are lost when the account is deleted. They can only be used inside the app: for Shop extras, which last for the current week, to open new recipes, for a day without ads and for themes and fonts. We may change costs and extras: those already used stay valid.
13. Themes and fonts
Themes and fonts can be unlocked with coins or bought in the store, and are included in Premium and Premium+. Those you unlock or buy stay linked to your account. Those included in the plan last while the plan is active: when the subscription ends the app goes back to the default theme and font.
14. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase made at a distance. Themes and fonts are digital content supplied immediately: by confirming the purchase you ask to receive them right away and you accept that you lose the right of withdrawal as soon as you receive them. For subscriptions, withdrawal or refunds are requested from the store you paid through, following its procedures. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
15. Advertising
The Free plan shows ads; Premium and Premium+ do not. We ask for the consent required by law the first time it is needed, and you can change it in Settings.
16. Fair use
Do not use the app for unlawful purposes, to put offensive content in the names of lists, pantries or items, to send photos that are not shopping receipts, to try to access other people's lists or data, or to get around limits and coins. In these cases we may suspend or close the account.
17. Liability
We offer the app as it is and do our best to make it work well, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. We are not liable for damage resulting from eating food, from preparing recipes, from incorrectly entered data, from automatically generated or read content (recipes, receipts), from expiry dates and calculations suggested by the app (freezer, cooked dishes, prices and waste) or from third-party data such as Open Food Facts data, to the extent permitted by law. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
18. Changes to the Terms and the Privacy policy
We may update these Terms and the Privacy policy. When they change, we show you a summary of the changes in the app and ask you to accept them before continuing. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of your country of residence still apply and the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction.
20. Contact
